all pau!

project: no-end-in-sight ripple along afghan
pattern: simple dc ripple
yarn: a plethora of red heart acrylic yarn
needles: crochet hook H 5.0 mm
notes: full sized afghan (queen size bed)

and JUST in time for mr. cps’s return home TODAY!  i’m so excited that i got this done.  the ends too forever and the size is a bit wonky at the beginning.  it seems to be a bit narrower on one end than the other… oh well.  that’s what borders are for.  maybe in time i’ll add more to the border edge since i still have a ton of yarn left.  or i could start a granny along afghan

*thinks of the assembly and blocking*

better not.  ^_^

if you can believe it, i carted this huge heavy project to my first aloha knitters meeting in a VERY long time this past thursday!  i got there late, but i was able to meet some of the hawaii knitbloggers - jill, opal, kim and chris (who no longer blogs, but remembers me!).  and now that i’m more “active” fiber-wise (i.e. fallen off the yarn addict anonymous wagon) i’m going to start going more regularly.  huzzah!  from that one meeting you could tell the temptation was beginning again… knitters that would not normally crochet were eyeing my ripple afghan, and there were some lady eleanors moving along that i’ve been hoping to make for quite some while now. take that and mix it with a beard papa that opened a few months ago… DANGEROUS combination.

i don’t know if anyone remembers from my spider days, but we used to take trips out to beard papa on the way to the subway.  and look what i found!

that’s veronique, me and sandra during my last nyc bp run.  aah the memories!!!  seems like knitting and beard papa go hand in hand, huh?

[side: i am SO excited to go home, guys.  i hope i get to see everyone when i head out there!  ^_^]

in the knitting realm, i tried starting my rusted root the other night but my needles told me it wasn’t the right time.

ouch.  i’ve been finding my denise needle cords have been popping at the exact same spot.  i know the denise people will replace them free of charge for me, but maybe its time to retire them and test drive those knitpicks options needles…  so anyway, due to unforseen instrument difficulties, rusted root has been put on hold.  *sigh*

since the jaywalker incident, i got a bit frustrated with the sock situation and decided to start another pair of socks.  i dug into my stash and decided to finally use my claudia’s handpainted sock yarn in “walk in the woods” colorway… to cast on pomatomous.  i love these socks and i can’t stop gushing about cookie a’s sock patterns! so elegant yet so simple…

this is my commuter project, so it’s been going along slowly… but with the richness of the colors and the soft merino i don’t mind.  hopefully the SSS doesn’t hit, though.

ooh!  only two hours until mr. cps’s flight comes in!  must get ready… have a great weekend, everyone!

Wow - I don’t think I would have ever made it through an afghan that size. It’s gorgeous though - love the colors. See you in NYC very soon!

maaaaan, i have literally MILES to go before i’m done with my afghan. slightly jealous here…but YAY for YOU! you’re done! and no yarn tails in sight? (did you weave in every.single.one!?!? inquiring minds must know! or did you just crochet them into the border? not that i would do that sort of thing…nah, i would. :D ) your sock yarn is pretty.
aaaaaaaaanyway, good to meet you in person (FINALLY) and i’ll see you thursday! maybe even take a photo and wave at mr. cps hiding behind the dumpster. :)

[…] After what was a weary week, I was more then looking forward to the Aloha Knitters‘ meeting tonight and I wasn’t disappointed. Joy was there with the most beautiful Pomatomus socks (scroll down to the bottom of the post to see them). These socks were so worthy of adoration that I do believe they received a few smooches. (Don’t tell me you’ve never loved a project to the point of wanting to give it a big kiss. If you haven’t, you don’t know what you are missing.) […]

I love your afghan - maybe it will inspire me to get back to mine - it’s kind of addictive! And your sock rocks too - I have been wanting to try Pomatamus.
